Happy Holidays!
I am happy to report to you that our PCI Library is doing well and continues to be open for the same full hours as many other branch libraries of the Free Library of Philadelphia system. The LEAP after-school program is going strong providing homework assistance, computer literacy and enrichment activities for students in grades 1 to 12. The staff is delighted to see many babies, toddlers and preschoolers returning to the library with their families. The yoga programming continues to attract attendees via Zoom and the English Conversation Group is thriving, bringing together an eager group of English Language learners. The adult programming has been extensive including talks by authors, music and film screenings.
In addition, PCI Library has a new Children’s Librarian and a solid roster of Library Assistants. What a great holiday gift to us all! We are all hoping that PCI Library will be able to open on Saturdays sometime early in the New Year.
It is a wonderful sight to see. I attended a Crafting Group meeting in the Teen Section of the library just last week. The sight of all the children and their parents enjoying the library was a joy for all to behold. Our library is a lovely place to be. We have faced many challenges since the sad day in March, 2020 when our world began to shut down.
